Scottish Country Dancing

www.rscdsvancouver.org

Scottish country dancing is as much fun as it is challenging - great exercise for body and mind. It's also unbelievably affordable - it is Scottish after all - and you don't need to bring a partner - we provide them.

rscdsvancouver Furthermore it's done all over the world, supported by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS) in Scotland. As the social dancing of Scotland, it has been shaped by the traditions from an earlier era when Dancing Masters toured the countryside teaching the jigs, reels and strathspeys unique to that land. It is a dance form infused with the spirit of the clans, tempered by the etiquette and elegance of the 18th century assembly. Its music is alive with the evocative rhythms and melodies of its Celtic origin - and instantly captivating.

rscdsvancouver There are over 500 Scottish country dancers in the Vancouver region in over a dozen clubs, often dancing several times a week. We invite you to come and join us. Visit our web site (above) or e-mail us at dance@rscdsvancouver.org. Anyone whose toes congenitally tap to the sound of Scottish music may also come and try it out at our always-popular, informal open-air summer dancing in the Ceperley area of Stanley Park, in Vancouver, every Monday evening from 7.30 - 9.00 p.m., throughout the months of July and August.
