Throughout the year there are Celtic musicians performing at pubs and festivals. Support those musicians by attending their concerts and performances. The BC Pipers' Assn. hosts a number of events open to the public, including indoor competitions and the Annual Gathering in April.
Volunteers: We will be looking for volunteers again in March 2020. Many of you will be returning, and we thank you very much for being such a key part of these fun Games. We need folks to help with the entry gates and especially anyone with their Serving It Right certificate. It's only a few hours, and you're then qualified to work in the beer garden (19+).
Are you curious about what a Scottish Highland games is? Read on.

A highland games and Scottish festival is a movable feast of music, competition, dancing and athleticism taking place all day long, often at the same time. It started way back in the highlands of Scotland hundreds of years ago. As Scots immigrated around the world, their Games came with them. A Scottish highland games has been held in the Vancouver area for more than 100 years. It's grown bigger with the years, so we need specific volunteers for the following dates:
Friday, June 19: A free-evening of live Celtic music, professional piobaireachd (classical music of the pipes), Tartan Run, vendors, whisky school.
Saturday, June 20: A full day of activities requiring volunteers: 7am-10pm. Each volunteer shift is 4-5 hrs.
In exchange for your contribution of time, we’ll give you free entry, a cool Highland Games t-shirt and a light lunch. We also offer accreditation for high school, college and university students who need volunteer hours.
We’re looking for help in the following areas:
- Gate Crew (check & scan tickets, issue wristbands.)
- Whisky School: (check tickets, clear & re-set tables)
- Beer garden: selling drink tickets, keeping things tidy, helping out where needed. "Serving it Right" certification req'd.
- Heavy events: working with our heavy event athletes to run an amazing competition. Can't be scared of REALLY big people.
- Games Info Tent: making sure people are heading in the right direction, got their tickets, or just helping out
Many volunteers have become friends and come back year after year. We hope you start your own traditions. But it begins with signing up first......
